Connect Google Sheets
Add rows to a Google Sheet, or read a sheet into an automation, with a free service account.
- 1
At console.cloud.google.com create a project (or use one), open APIs & Services → Library and enable Google Sheets API.
- 2
Open IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create service account; no roles are needed. Open it → Keys → Add key → JSON. A file downloads.
- 3
Open your Google Sheet → Share, and share it with the service account's email (it ends in iam.gserviceaccount.com) as Editor.
- 4
In the builder, drag the app's step from Apps in the step library onto the board, open it, and under Connection choose New….
- 5
Give the connection a name (e.g. "Sales team"), paste the whole contents of the JSON file and press Save on this computer. Choose the action and fill its fields; {{row["Column"]}} uses a value from the current row.
Good to know
- Spreadsheet takes the sheet's whole address or its id.
- Rows takes a line per row (cells separated by commas), or {{table}} to add a whole table.
